Scientific Authors Should be More Careful

In lockstep with the scientific growth across the globe, Middle East countries have made great strides in expanding their scientific horizons in recent years. Indeed, the current success rate in the publication of scientific papers in this region shows a considerable rise by comparison with that even in the recent past. Be that as it may, this ever-increasing pace in the quantity of published research should be maintained and nurtured in tandem with elevation in quality if further citations and credits are to be accrued and only with meticulous adherence to scientific writing principles and a wide knowledge of what is referred to as scientific misconducts can such lofty ambitions be attained. "The Journal of Tehran University Heart Center" has enjoyed a relatively consistent rise in the number of manuscripts which it has received in recent years and its records attest to the improvement in the quality of its publications as well. It is regrettable, however, that the journal sometimes receives manuscripts which do not fulfill the internationally accepted criteria of a scientific paper. Non-compliance with scientific writing guidelines under any shape or form cannot be excused as all authors of scientific papers are required to be fully au fait with them. Plagiarism or copyright infringement is unfortunately more frequent in countries whose native language is not English. Needless to say, such misconduct, even if committed inadvertently, will invariably lead to the offender’s compromising his or her academic credit and ranking. "The Journal of Tehran University Heart Center" spares no effort to identify such instances of misconduct; nonetheless, in all probability, there are always some cases that go unnoticed until post-publication scrutiny. To that end, our journal has already published papers concerning publication misconducts and intends to continue this awareness campaign even more vigorously.
